Mobile RSPS: playing private servers on Android and iOS
More and more private servers can be played on a phone. Here is how mobile RSPS clients work and how to install one without risking your device.
How mobile RSPS works
Official OSRS has a mobile app, but private servers can't use it. Servers that support phones build their own client: usually an Android APK downloaded from their website, sometimes an iOS build through TestFlight or a web client that runs in the browser. Many let you log in to the same account on desktop and mobile.
Installing on Android
- Download the APK only from the server's official website (follow the link on its listing here).
- Android will ask to allow installs from that source. Allow it only for that install, then turn it off again.
- Check the permissions it asks for. A game client needs internet and storage, not contacts, SMS or accessibility access.
iPhone and iPad
Apple doesn't allow side-loaded apps for most users, so iOS support usually means TestFlight, a browser client, or none. Never install a "configuration profile" to play a game.
What to expect
- Touch controls vary a lot; look for screenshots or videos first.
- Battery and data use are similar to official OSRS mobile.
- Mobile players are often on the same worlds as desktop players.

Frequently asked questions
Can you play RSPS on mobile?
Yes, on servers that build their own Android or iOS client or offer a web client. Look for the Mobile tag on a listing.
Is an RSPS APK safe?
Only if it comes from the server's official website and asks for normal game permissions. Avoid APKs sent in DMs or from file-sharing sites.
Can I use the official OSRS app for a private server?
No. Private servers need their own client.
